50 Poem Anniversary

Sometimes I write down words,

And they sing back to me,

Like the birds that perch on branches,

And sing melodies to the world.

I’m grateful for these words that flow,

Sometimes like water,

Sometimes like glue.

They capture the emotions that bulge and drip,

From my overflowing heart.

My phrases, embossed with beautiful memories,

Take snapshots of fleeting moments in my life,

Preserving them in amber.

The tears that slip,

The giggles that erupt,

I’m grateful for them all,

For in two months,

I have been able to loosen the chains of a heavy depression,

That threatened to choke me.

50 poems down,

But my life now sings in endless poetry,

And I’m waltzing with the words.
