I used to face the evening sun,
See the clouds ablaze,
Beautiful hues stretching down the sky,
Until they bless my view.
It was so beautiful,
I almost stayed,
In that house,
In that relationship,
Frozen in the moment.
I’m on the other side.
I don’t face the sun as it retreats at night,
Although I cherish the morning light.
In the evenings,
I get to see what the world looks like,
When the sun is at its knee.
The buildings change colors,
People block the light with their window shades.
The birds dance in patterns,
Jumping from building to building.
The water glows and shimmers,
As it waves goodbye to the daylight.
Beautiful.
Unable see the sun walk down skylight’s steps,
I sit on my balcony,
Heavy sighs joining the wind.
My eyes look at the sky,
Looking for where the sun touches,
Hoping to see something that brightens my day.
