Grass Song

By

A symphony plays in my mind,

When I cry, harmonious violins breathe life into the silence and fill me with a lulling grief.

When I smile, jittery flutes arouse a sense of electrifying joy.

A complex emotional landscape,

The willowy grasslands that sway to the direction of the wind,

The reaching flowers that pull their faces towards the sun’s embrace,

The unmoving trees that plant and root confidently where they stand,

The shimmering creek that trickles or rages at the rain’s command,

My landscape breathes life into every feeling,

and I sit in it, listening to the songs the weather brings.

Sometimes I’m sitting in the grasslands, helpless and drenched in the face of an unexpected downpour. The string section bellows and whines, filling every crevice of my mind with their anguishing sound.

Other times I’m giving the flowers their morning greetings as a tickling wind grazes my skin and rouses laughter within. Playful, bouncing flutes visit me, carried by the wind. They jig and dance in the air, and sometimes I join in.

Sometimes I even find myself somewhere unknown, a still desert or a glowing jungle. New sounds accompany me, often confusing me on what they mean or where they came from. These moments are particular reminders that there is always more to learn and explore.

As I write, the symphony joins in,

Music combining with word and becoming a poetic resonance that marks a new chapter of my life.

I feel my landscape slowly changing, the blowing wind bringing new melodies.

All I can do is sit and watch this inevitable and precious feeling.
