Farewell to a Friend

By

October 11, 2023

Leaving on the day hell is raised,

Fiery plumes burst from her existence.

Guilty hearts are settled by the disappearance,

Innocent ones shake their heads and mourn.

Justice knows no departure.

It knows no rest.

It rumbles beneath unknowing feet,

Until a sudden, final breath,

Where they are swallowed whole,

By a vengeful magma core.

There is no home for the wicked,

Only an existence of discomfort and suffering,

An unsettling feeling that haunts.

The sun is exiled,

Yet it persists,

Burning just as hot as it always has,

True to its nature.

The same cannot be said of cowards,

Who tremble in a cold shade,

Afraid to step into the heat.

Farewell, Katie,

Keep bright.
