Jealousy

Singing praises,

Sound like siren calls,

Screeching in my ears,

Blood dripping from my eyes,

As everyone claps and cheers.

The green monster of jealousy.

A plastic bag,

Trapped over my head,

Binding to me,

And slowly taking my oxygen away.

I try to remind myself,

Someone’s path,

Is not my own,

That I shouldn’t compare,

But it still stings,

To feel like an audience member,

Watching you take something,

I wish I had.

Singing praises doesn’t sound like singing at all,

It feels like a sharp knife,

Cutting me open,

And unveiling my worthlessness.
